God put something special on my heart this week. I believe it’s a word of encouragement for you and me, at this very moment. It starts with an old hymn and a scripture.
“Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace”
Helen Howarth Lemmel
“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Heb. 12:2)
Turn your eyes on Jesus and wait on Him!
There is something very special about waiting. Sometimes God holds back a little, to see if we are willing to wait on Him. Just be, and wait. Fix our eyes on Jesus, and let everything else grow dim.
The best thing we can ever do is turn our eyes on Jesus. The Israelites turned their eyes on the nations surrounding them and demanded to have a king, because they all had one. They thought it would give them status and keep them safe. But they failed to notice that those nations were already terrified of them, because they had heard what God had done for them. (1 Sam. 4:5-8). God wanted to be their King, but they didn’t realize it because they looked around them, instead of looking to Him.
Hold on. He is coming to your aid! He is working. He hears your prayers. Every. Single. One. And He is working. So much more is happening behind the scenes, than you know.
When the angel came to Daniel, he said, “From the moment you started praying, your words were heard. But there was a battle going on.” (Dan. 10:12). From the moment you started praying, God heard you. Help is coming!
Jesus endured pain because He knew the joy it would eventually bring. “Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” (Ps. 30:5). Who better to learn from and wait on than Jesus?
I will leave you with Jesus now, instead of going on. This moment is between you and Him. Fix your eyes on Him and wait. You are so special to Him! Let Him love you.
